currently matriculated in four-year U.S. or Canadian LCME-approved
medical schools
- Applicants must meet the following academic
criteria:
- Successful completion of at least three full years
of undergraduate study (90 semester hours or 135 quarter
hours) at an accredited college or university, including
30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of upper division
courses. Applicants educated outside the United States
must have completed at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter
hours) in an accredited college or university in the
United States or Canada prior to application.

completed a course of study which includes content in anatomy,
behavioral science, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology,
pathology, pharmacology and physiology.
- Where adequate training in history-taking and physical
examination is not apparent from the applicant's record,
at the discretion of the Admissions Committee, the applicant
will be required to participate in an especially prepared
course of study in these areas.
- Applicants whose credentials
indicate deficiencies in other areas of study covered during
the basic science curriculum will be held responsible for this
material through self-study and will be expected to perform
at the same level as the students who have completed the first
two years at The University of Arizona College of Medicine.
- All
applicants enrolled in medical schools must take Step 1 of
the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) prior
to transfer. Please contact your medical school or the National
Board of Medical Examiners for registration materials and deadlines.
- Applicants
who are on official leave of absence of not more than one year
will be considered. A letter substantiating this leave must
be submitted from the applicant's medical school.
- Applicants
who meet the listed criteria and are under consideration will
be interviewed at the College of Medicine.
- Applicants must have
official transcripts submitted from all undergraduate and graduate
schools.
- Applicants must have letters of recommendation sent
directly to the Admissions Office from professors from whom
they have taken courses, or from physicians who have supervised
their clerkships or externships. A minimum of three letters
is required. A letter from the dean of the school is
also required stating that you are currently enrolled and a
student in good standing.
- Applicants are advised that, if accepted,
they will enter into the third year of our program and will
be required to complete all of the last two years of our curriculum.
